As we enjoy the warmer weather and the blooming gardens throughout our neighborhood, I want to invite each of you to join us for our upcoming General Meeting on Monday, April 13 at 6:30pm.
Our community thrives on active participation and the sharing of diverse ideas. These meetings are the best way to stay informed about local projects, voice your thoughts on neighborhood developments, and
connect with fellow residents who care deeply about the future of the Heights.
Location: The Historic Houston Heights Fire Station, 107 W. 12th Street
Featured Program: Land Use & Deed Restrictions This month, we are pleased to feature a presentation from the HHA Land Use Committee. As our neighborhood continues to evolve, the committee’s work in promoting responsible development and historic preservation is more vital than ever. They will provide updates on current development projects and the essential role of deed restrictions in maintaining the unique character of the Heights. Whether you are curious about local standards or how we manage our historic district designations, this is a session you won't want to miss.
Community Safety: Heights Constable Patrol Program I also want to emphasize the importance of our Heights Constable Patrol Program. This deputy-led initiative remains one of our most effective tools for keeping our streets and properties secure. The patrol is funded entirely by the residents who subscribe to it. By contributing, you aren't just securing your own home—you are providing a vital resource that benefits everyone in the neighborhood. If you haven’t already, I strongly encourage you to sign up for a subscription here: Heights Constable Patrol Program. Consistent support allows us to maintain a reliable presence and keep our community a safe, welcoming place for all.
Thank you for your continued dedication to the Houston Heights. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Fire Station on the 13th.
Warmly,
Katye Tipton
President

Congratulations to our April Yard of the Month recipients, longtime residents Tracye and David of 1139 Waverly. Over 35 years, they have transformed their landscape into a personal sanctuary, featuring a front yard of thriving succulents and cacti shaded by a 20-year-old Water Oak and accented by Tracye’s custom sculptures. David makes use of the full-sun side yard to cultivate a massive edible harvest, ranging from citrus and leafy greens to summer staples like okra and eggplant. We would like to thank our neighbors at Buchanan’s Native Plants (611 E. 11th Street) for providing a gift card to the winners in recognition of their beautiful, evolving garden!
